Nominating Draco flavus who declared to help us in maintaining of sourceswiki<-->plwikisource imports. Draco is a trustworthy user and also admin in plwikisource. Ankry (talk) 21:14, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for nomination, I agree. Draco flavus (talk) 16:36, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Draco flavus: as there have been no objections and as the work of the user in this project is very useful, I gave you the admionistrator rights now (beginning October 1st 2023). I guess you can use them well as you are an admin in plwikisource. Go well and good luck, -jkb- (talk) 21:41, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for bureaucrat rights

Koavf

Koavf (talk contribs blocks protects deletions moves rights)

Active admin here and we only have three bureaucrats, of which two (Special:Contributions/Ooswesthoesbes/Special:Log/Ooswesthoesbes and Special:Contributions/Zyephyrus/Special:Log/Zyephyrus have not been active in several months). Also a bureaucrat on outreach: and a CheckUser on species:. —Justin (koavf)TCM 17:06, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for other rights

Minorax

Minorax (talk contribs blocks protects deletions moves rights)

Requesting for translation admin rights to help out at Special:PageTranslation. I have similar rights at (most) wikis that have this extension enabled. --Minorax (talk) 01:40, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do we actually need somebody with "translation admin rights" here? In fact, I have no idea... -jkb- (talk) 16:46, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@-jkb-: There are several pages marked for translation but hasn’t been approved by a translation admin. Minorax (talk) 22:59, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm really not sure how to proceed this request. @Ooswesthoesbes, Zyephyrus, Koavf, Mahagaja, Ankry: et al, your oppinion, please. Thx, -jkb- (talk) 20:06, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mahagaja: see [https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:ListGroupRights here), the thread "Übersetzungsadministratoren"
one more ping, also @ Zyephyrus: see here in German. -jkb- (talk) 22:07, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's fine to give translation admin rights here and in fact, it is something that we should do in principle (i.e. without necessarily saying that this user should have them in this instance). Since many help and project pages are written in English but this is supposed to be a multilingual wiki, it's important to have translation admins who can translate our policies into other languages. Furthermore, I recall having seen Minorax around and I think he's a reliable editor, so if he's claiming language competency in something, then I say believe him until we know otherwise. Thanks. —Justin (koavf)TCM 00:10, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My problem as well. More over, I am not sure, if their task is to approve transalations on wikisource (might be on wikipedia projects, ok...), where the most users that are active in this or that language, couldn't make it better according to thei needs. -jkb- (talk) 20:41, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Minorax,
1. Can you give some links to translations you have done?
2. Can you answer this question copied from my talk page?

Reptilien.19831209BE1 (talk) 13:04, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Two questions, @Minorax::

  1. which languages can you speak?
  2. do you know which languages are common here at oldwikisource?

Thanks, -jkb- (talk) 23:01, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Zyephyrus: See mw:Special:Contribs/Minorax. As for what the quote, it roughly translates to "Hello Zyephyrus, Happy New Year. Quick question: now that the Walloon wikisource has its own subdomain, would the related pages here be deleted, or is it done automatically after a certain time?"
@Minorax:, I had seen your contribs first thing after you requested these rights on December's 19th and I checked all that I could grasp of what you had done, here and on other wikies: what I thought of you is: this user does what announced, a reliable contributor. Then I have hesitated because your translation "would the related pages here be deleted?" had been a misunderstanding, the question was: "must I request these deletions?". So I was not sure whether it was important enough to tell you this or not.Now you know everything about what I thought. I agree to give you these rights now. --Zyephyrus (talk) 18:02, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@-jkb-: I speak English (en) and Mandarin Chinese (zh) and have some (little) knowledge for Korean (ko), Malay (ms) & French (fr). As for the second part, I have no idea.
The main purpose of the translation extension is to just simply make the page available to be translated into other languages by other editors. Wikisource:Bots is one of the few pages that has been marked for translation and is available in other languages, such as Italian & Chinese. --Minorax (talk) 23:58, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Koavf, this is a multilingual wiki, so there is a very good reason to have translation admins, and I think Minorax is a user that can be trusted. So I so no reason not to do that. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 07:30, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OK, as for me we can do it. Zyephyrus do you agree as well? -jkb- (talk) 09:18, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, we have here four users with the rights already. -jkb- (talk) 09:54, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is there really a need to drag this for such a long time? Minorax (talk) 02:09, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No. Things move too slowly here. —Justin (koavf)TCM 03:04, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

After my question to User:Zyephyrus (see my edit 09:18, 10 January 2021) I was waiting for the answer. But obviously it has been done, and should be noticed here. -jkb- (talk) 23:51, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have known me for a long time, -jkb-, and you will not be surprised that I was so busy finding the image that Minorax will see on their talk page, I was so busy finding exactly what I meant to signify, that I didn't do it in the right order. Do pardon me if I haven't waited.
Done --Zyephyrus (talk) 10:29, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Zyephyrus, is there something wrong? I was waiting for your reply here, then suddenly I saw your notice on the talk page of Minorax, but no announcement or something like that. So I had like to know what going on. Thats all. Regards and sorry, if there was something wrong in my edit!. -jkb- (talk) 23:10, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nigmont, request for flag 'suppressredirect'

I am asking for granting me, if that is possible, one special flag, namely:

  • Not create redirects from source pages when moving pages (suppressredirect)

During my work in the Mordvinic Wikisources (Moksha and Erzya), I from time to time do mistakes in the created items (pages), and after those mistakes I am forced to do renaming to the proper name and put the needless redirect to deletion. I think it would be better that I could do renaming without creation of needless redirects and avoid bothering admins with requests to delete those futile redirects. I am not intending to use this flag outside of those local Wikisources (except, may be, in the cases of obviously needed help to good-faith users from other Wikisources). --Nigmont (talk) 17:15, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I myself also admit that it is, most likely, not possible without acquiring for me a user group having extended set of rights including this one. But at this moment I don't feel myself ready to get any of those user groups, I want only this specific flag. I it is possible then it would be fine; but if not (sigh) — allright, then let it stay as it has been before. --Nigmont (talk) 17:55, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
let's wait, might be somebody knows a trick... probably you can ask for it at meta... -jkb- (talk) 18:01, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
AFAIK, we can:
  • ask for creation of new user group what has this user right (but I doubt about creating a group just for one user)
  • ask for granting this user right to an existing user group (but I cannot find any suitable)
  • grant Nigmont the admin bit (I would  Support but the user needs to accept it first)
Ankry (talk) 16:51, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just being an admin is the solution (which I also  Support). —Justin (koavf)TCM 19:05, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I would support the admin bit too if Nigmont asks for it :-). --Zyephyrus (talk) 21:35, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I support this; we had here some more votes in December, I suggest waiting some days up to weekend, and if there are no objections, I will grand the rights. Greetings, -jkb- (talk) 20:59, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @-jkb-: do you mean here: to grant me adminship right now? If yes, then I ask to wait until the next year — see my message below. Anyway, even if you give me admin's rights right now, then it would be useless because I am not intending to be active in the Wikisource in December, neither as an admin nor even as a common user. --Nigmont (talk) 16:15, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot to everyone who expressed support for my adminship, I was really surprized when I saw so many opinions of support! However, it seems to me that for getting to me admin's tools, a normal request for adminship must be created first, and all supportive (and contradictory if they exist) voices should be collected there, and only after that it would be correct to grant me admin's rights (if the request has shown substantial support for that, of course). I think, it is not quite right idea to give me adminship right now, regardless all supportive voices here.

Really, I have already thought about adminship here, but each time when I thought about it, I felt myself not ready and, that even more important, that it was really not needed/required to me (for my current work here). But now, taking in account such support from experienced users, seemingly I am ready to ask for admin's tools. However, I propose to leave it for the next year, when I will find some time and write the request. Anyway, I am not intending to be very much active in this December even in usual Wikisource work (which does not require adminship), and there is nothing to say about admin's work. So, let's wait, and in January-February of the next (2022) year I expect to write the request to ask for adminship. Thanks to everyone once again! --Nigmont (talk) 16:07, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nikki

Hello :) I'd like to request translation admin rights. I'm already an admin, interface admin and translation admin on Wikidata, so I have experience with admin tools. I would specifically like the pagelang flag (which Special:ListGroupRights says only admins and translation admins have) so that I can set page languages to the correct language - right now many pages in the main namespace are set to English (the default here) when they are not English - but I would be willing to help with making pages translatable as well. - Nikki (talk) 20:32, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done and enjoy it ! Regards -jkb- (talk) 09:59, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Votes for removal of rights

This areas is for votes to remove rights, either for inactivity or for misuse of rights (or any other reason). Please vote/comment on whether you think that the users below should keep or lose their respective user rights. Unless otherwise noted, users who have multiple rights will only have the rights under the particular section removed (i.e. a user with both admin and bureaucrat rights who is nominated for removal of bureaucrat rights, will retain their admin rights). However, normally bureaucrats who lose their admin rights will also lose their bureaucrat rights. Removals of most rights require a Steward, after a discussion is closed with a result of removal, the closing editor should post a request on meta.

Vote for removal of administrator privileges

This section is for removal of admin rights ("desysopping") If you have been listed here due to inactivity, but intend to resume admin duties, please indicate this so that others can re-evaluate whether you should be desysopped. Admins who are desysopped due to inactivity are encouraged to resume administration whenever they wish, either by talking to a crat or initiating a request above. Admins who do not respond may be automatically desysopped after 30 days.
