following your request, I appointed you as a sysop here. ThomasV 17:00, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, congratulations.

Can you complete this list?

--LadyInGrey 19:23, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, and little bit late: welcome here. You started to edit here some more new texts from I gues, and I have some questions about it. See [[Talk:Author:Sergei Rachmaninoff]] where it belongs I think. Also, the question is if the category for Rachmaninoff should be Old Church Slavonic (and not Author-R) as well because we have quite a lot of languages here. But anyway I wish you the best in your further work here!!! -jkb- 11:14, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No the text isnt from I went looking for OCS texts to expand the category. I did quickly review the copyright, and thought it was PD in USSR prior to 1996. (per en:WS:FORM#URAA-restored_copyright) I may be wrong in this, and will not mind deletion if that is the case. I appreciate you not deleting the texts before giving me time to look into it. I have quickly responded now on the talk page, and will look more deeply into this tomorrow. John Vandenberg 12:37, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well, that is what I mean: old Russian texts are free till the end of this month in any case, but I am not sure what will change after January 2008. Yes, I think I saw a discussion on commons, but as the russian law has no importance for my work on the Czech Wikisource I did not follow it - and i do not say it is not PD: I am not sure, that is all. But might be something will change. Other points I mentionen on the page [[Talk:Author:Sergei Rachmaninoff]]:
1. the source seems to be the web site, therefore it should be mentionen in the header instead of

by Sergei Rachmaninoff, published 1915, from All-Night Vigil, no. 3.

also because the authors of the site reclaim that the original texts are free (I saw a notice there)
2. Rachmaninoff is not the author I think, author is unknown; if Rachmaninoff did something so he made the selection of the texts; an exactly this vould be a problem if the russian copyright law should change in 2008 - not the texts, but the selection could be protected (if something changes... ...)
So long, regards -jkb- 15:01, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

your reminders - language[edit]

The page Knjiga Joëlova is like all edits of the user ([1]) in a Slavonic language, but I cannot judge in which one; light similar to Russian or Ukrainian. -jkb- 14:12, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

On cs.source somebody told me it could be Croatian, see w:hr:Kategorija:Stari zavjet, -jkb- 17:25, 30 March 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I left a notice there in Scriptorium. -jkb- 17:36, 30 March 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It was Croatian, see User talk:-jkb-#Re:Bible in hr?, i have deleted all, -jkb- 16:18, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Per Wikisource:Scriptorium#import, would you like importing right here? I checked Special:Import but found nothing to import from Commons. If you want, I can nominate you to have importing right at Wikisource:Administrators#Requests_for_importing_right while I am nominating myself.--Jusjih 21:33, 27 April 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I can already import; the ability to import from file would also be useful. John Vandenberg 23:09, 27 April 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Can you import from Wikimedia Commons or Meta yet? If not, I would like to nominate you to have importing right. The only user with such a right here is Tim Starling and I do not see Commons or Meta at Special:Import.--Jusjih 23:54, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The bug has not been fixed. I will be happy to accept import rights so that we can bypass that bug. John Vandenberg 11:19, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You know about this stub?

Cheers, Jack Merridew 07:09, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I do now. John Vandenberg 11:17, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for the announcement. Meursault2004 15:39, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

In fact I don't know if your welcome message arrived some days ago was an authomatic one :). And as you see I don't walk this land so often :(. Many thanks anyway. In fact I was registered in it:wikisource since 2005 but almost never contributed. And my little words in vec:wikisource is just because of my -so so far- early year's land. I don't think I'll be able to do something useful in vec.wikisource. And even in it:wikisource my contribute is barely bareable :)) But hope is the last goddess... Vale!--Horatius 11:53, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Georgian main page[edit]

Hi, I am doing a Georgian wikisource, please add it on the main page. Main Page:ქართული--Temuri rajavi 16:33, 4 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The page Main Page:ქართული is not ready yet, as it contains many templates that havent been created yet, and it does not mention თავისუფლება.
When it is ready, you may add it to Template talk:Wikisource languages.
John Vandenberg 01:26, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
ok thanks--Temuri rajavi 18:50, 17 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Arabic Wikisource[edit]

Would you use the code on my page to update the mainpage as Arabic Wikisource has now more than 13,500 pages? Thanks. --Obayd 23:17, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Swedish Wikisource[edit]

I picked you because you speek English. If there is someone who can answer better please put my my suggestions to him/her.

There is someone who has copied text from the Swedish lawbooks to Swedish Wikimedia. Then he or someone else has put reminders that this text can be used by the readers. The problem is that those text are old and partly obsolete. We have text from the lawbook that are changed every time and the text on Wikisource are hence not only unneccesary but also traps if some ignorant tries to use them. I have in vain tried to find someone interested in these traps. Truly Yours -- 15:39, 25 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am interested. Could you inform me of which pages, and who is doing this, so I can think about the details.
Email me if you dont want to say publicly.

Hi, John. Could you please undelete my user page and the six subpages? I've blanked the user page for now but want the histories back. No hurry at all ;) Cheers, Jack Merridew 07:51, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Done. John Vandenberg 20:48, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Puranas & other Sanskrit texts[edit]

I am only on a little netbook and moving large files around is problematic. I would very much appreciate if someone could populate our Wikisource Purana page with the Puranas found HERE. There are many other important files as well but it would be appreciated if the Puranas could be focused upon sooner rather than later.

Proposal on Scriptorium[edit]

John, Please see my proposal here: Wikisource:Scriptorium#Admin Activity Review. Also, please let me know if you think this would be a more appropriate/simpler wording to use on as well or if you think that one is better, or if the two wikis need different versions.--Doug.(talk contribs) 01:27, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Doug: sorry I didnt respond to this. I vaguely remember participating, but maybe I responded on a similar discussion on Latin Wikisource. Was there a conclusion for this discussion here on Is there any ongoing discussions regarding this? Do we need to restart discussions regarding it? Help with harassment by cs.wikisource admins[edit]

Hi, I see you are admin of this wiki. On the local Village pump there's written: "This is the central location for discussing issues with Wikisource, and the place to ask for help." So I posted a plea for help there but noone replied. Would you please have a look? I'm being harassed by cs.wikisource admins, I was banned indef but I never did anything wrong on the wiki at all. Thanks in advance. --Auvajs (talk) 17:39, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
