The larger collections have been spawned into separate projects, leaving this wiki to serve as a central collaboration point, and as an environment where works without a language subdomain can be started. You can find a list of the separate language projects on the main page or here and you may want to look at the our coordination page for limitations on placing certain works on the separate language projects.

Ligurian Wikisource

Hi! Not sure wether there are as many as 3 contributors. I transcribed about 3000 pages. Before setting up the ligurian main page, I had transcribed another 1500 pages on the italian wikisource (since Liguria is part of Italy) and they are still there. My technical skills are very basic so I don't know how the migration of all these pages to a new domain will have to be carried out. Cheers! G.Musso (talk) 15:39, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

Don't worry about migrating the pages to a new domain; the WMF will sort it out. As for the contributors, ask on Italian and Ligurian Wikipedias if anyone is interested. DraconicDark (talk) 16:01, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi DraconicDark, to my big surprise I saw today that the process of making the Ligurian Wikisource independent is going on. Apparently, this was triggered by persons who are not Ligurian native speakers and do not understand that the requirements you mentioned in my talk page sometime ago have not been met so far and cannot be met anytime soon. I did not want to go that far as I am very aware of the limited possibilities of the very few Ligurian native speakers and raised few objections (please see the bottom of this link: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T257672). Could you please help me in putting on hold the whole process? It is not the right time.

I wrote on that page today: I would like to strongly stress that we need to keep the interface in English as we have for the time being no native speakers who can work on the interface. Interface in Italian is not an option as we need to remain independent linguistically speaking. Even the simplest translation proposals I see above are wrong and need a native speaker for an urgent correction.

I hope you can put the whole process on hold. Times are not ripe yet and on top of that we (I speak on behalf of my community, mainly the four admins of Wiki Ligure, and many users) do not want any mix with Italian sentences/words in the interface. English has been perfect for years and we can keep working with that just fine. --Luensu1959 (talk) 21:10, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for your prompt reply. Unfortunately, the reality is different. I have been the only contributor for the past few months, with very few exceptions. The request started and was supported by users who are not native speakers. I have no time to work on translate wiki, and they do not, either. Thanks for your suggestion. Giromin Cangiaxo is a former admin who actually taught me how to become an admin. He is unique and a native speaker and works a lot on translate wiki. Actually, he is the only one who does it. Unfortunately, he never replied to my attempts to re-establish contact in the past two years, nor he replied to the attempts of the Ligurian-speaking community to make contact. We do not know what happened, but he sure works hard. To finish with: Wikisource in English is not growing anymore. Giving it an "independent status" was too early.
