Hello Pynappel, welcome to the multilingual Wikisource! Thanks for your interest in the project; we hope you'll enjoy the community and your work here.

This wiki is the original Wikisource wiki, originally hosting works in many languages. The larger collections have been spawned into separate projects, leaving this wiki to serve as a central collaboration point, and as an environment where works without a language subdomain can be started. Refer to our languages list to see which languages still reside on this wiki. You can find a list of the separate language projects on the main page or here and you may want to look at the our coordination page for limitations on placing certain works on the separate language projects.

Most questions and discussions about the community are in the Scriptorium.

The Community Portal lists tasks you can help with if you wish. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page!

Licensing Outeur:N. P. van Wyk Louw

[edit]

Pls notice: all works in Wikisource must be free / free licence. The works of Outeur:N. P. van Wyk Louw do not seem to be free as he died 1970. Can you provide a free licence? Otherwise we must delete the pages. Eagards, -jkb- (talk) 17:35, 21 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Aleenspraak was published in South Africa in 1947 so according to South African law this work has been in the public domain since 1998. Adriaan Joubert (talk) 18:52, 25 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
According to the SA law shown below, this work will be PD in South Africa in 2021 (50pma, 1970+50+1): literary or musical works or artistic works, other than photographs, the life of the author and fifty years from the end of the year in which the author dies Ankry (talk) 07:19, 30 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

3. Copyright by virtue of nationality, domicile or residence, and duration of copyright.—(1) Copyright shall be conferred by this section on every work, eligible for copyright, of which the author or, in the case of a work of joint authorship, any one of the authors is at the time the work or a substantial part thereof is made, a qualified person, that is—

(a)

in the case of an individual, a person who is a South African citizen or is domiciled or resident in the Republic; or

(b)

in the case of a juristic person, a body incorporated under the laws of the Republic:

Provided that a work of architecture erected in the Republic or any other artistic work incorporated in a building or any other permanent structure in the Republic, shall be eligible for copyright, whether or not the author was a qualified person.

[Sub-s. (1) substituted by s. 3 (a) of Act No. 125 of 1992.]

Wording of Sections

(2) The term of copyright conferred by this section shall be, in the case of—

(a)

literary or musical works or artistic works, other than photographs, the life of the author and fifty years from the end of the year in which the author dies: Provided that if before the death of the author none of the following acts had been done in respect of such works or an adaptation thereof, namely—

(i)

the publication thereof;

(ii)

the performance thereof in public;

(iii)

the offer for sale to the public of records thereof;

(iv)

the broadcasting thereof,

the term of copyright shall continue to subsist for a period of fifty years from the end of the year in which the first of the said acts is done;
South African copyright law is likely irrelevant here. Unless you have a cc-by-sa 3.0 permission from copyright owner, all works published here have to be in public domain in US. It is possible if:
  • they were published before 1923
  • they were first published outside US and were in PD in the country of publication on the URAA date (likely 1.1.1996)
  • they were first published in US before 1960 and copyright was not registered or not renewed.
First publication in SA in 1947 means that it is not in PD in US unless it was published in US at the same time and copyright was not renewed (proof needed for both). Ankry (talk) 20:27, 25 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have reported this text to Wikisource:Possible copyright violations as no evidence of PD/CC-BY-SA status in US provided till now. Ankry (talk) 07:15, 30 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
