This wiki is the original Wikisource wiki, originally hosting works in many languages. The larger collections have been spawned into separate projects, leaving this wiki to serve as a central collaboration point, and as an environment where works without a language subdomain can be started. Refer to our languages list to see which languages still reside on this wiki. You can find a list of the separate language projects on the main page or here and you may want to look at the our coordination page for limitations on placing certain works on the separate language projects.

Abusefilter[edit]

- Hello @Ankry:. AnttonUgarte is a Wikimedian in Residence and is doing a job with the Basque Wikimedians User Group, inside the Education Project. I designed a system to upload original and translated works with him, as we reached an agreement with the University publisher to add this texts and maps to the Commons and Wikisource. Is there any problem with what we are doing? I have a wide experience in Wikimedia projects, but unfortunately not in Wikisource. - Generaly, there is no problem. I just noticed that abusefilter blocks attempts to add source information as an external link. It is normal for users with small number of edits. And I just doubt if a website link is the best reference here: maybe there is a printed version of this text? Note, that the text copyright status information should be provided on this page. If the texts are copyrightable and copyright did not expire yet in US (70 years after authors death or if published before 1923), the CC-BY-SA-3.0 (or compatible) license permission should be pointed out or send to Wikimedia OTRS system and the OTRS ticket referenced on the text page.
- WMF does not allow us to upload texts that are not under CC-BY-SA-3.0 (or compatible) license.
- AFAIK, ToU change that will allow other licenses (eg. CC-BY-SA 4.0) in Wikisource is planned by WMF, but not effective, yet. Ankry (talk) 11:52, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Ankry:, the referenced texts are books that can be found in buruxkak.eus and some other not printed materials, mostly text publishes as is on web from kondaira.eus. If OTRS is necessary in this case, we could figure out, as @AnttonUgarte: is working on the University who is part of the agreement to leave this texts on cc-by-sa license. On the other hand, some Wikisources (not the multilingual, maybe, but being here is not enterily our fault) allow uploading texts with other licenses AFAIK. -Theklan (talk) 19:44, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Theklan: It seems to me (reading the "Ohar-legala" sections using Google translate) that some books in these projects are CC-BY-SA-3.0 licensed, but they should be marked with Creative Commons mark. Others are likely free for personal use only. I am unable to find this mark at the page (Kondara) you pointed out nor in the PDF file available there (but it may be because of a laguage related problem). Fair use content ("free for personal use") should not be uploaded here as everything here should be free also for commercial reuse.
- If there is no explicit CC-BY-SA-3.0 license for a specific source of texts, then OTRS permission is needed, I think.
- If there is an explicit CC-BY-SA-3.0 license declaration somewhere for a book, the book can be used as a source here. And the whole book can be uploaded to Commons and transcribed here using ProofreadPage as well.

- Yes, we know that, @Ankry:, but the project is not uploading all the book (indeed, it would be possible) but to select some texts, upload here and then quote them in the correspondent article of Wikipedia. This process was explained in the blog post I mentioned there and is part of the Basque Wikimedians User Group official work on the Education Program. We will manage some OTRS if there are problems, but ALL users have been contacted by the University and consented to do this work. The ones that didn't consent are not being uploaded. Hello Ankry and Theklan. Here are licence conditions of the web pages I am using. They are written in Basque, but you can see CC 3.0 symbols: http://www.buruxkak.eus/ohar-legal http://www.kondaira.eus/pages/view/ohar-legala
- Yeah. I have seen this page(s), see above. I just wondered if the cc license mentioned there applies to all books in the service(s). And if not, how to recognize them (looking for copyright mark through PDF is ugly). Neverless, I think it might be worth to add links to the source and license pages for the texts that originate therefrom. You are already autoconfirmed, so you can add such links (or maybe a template if many such pages?). Ankry (talk) 20:28, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- The problem is that those PDFs are the original ones and they are not going to change the original binding for this project. The books that are being left with a free license are those that we are uploading, not completely, but only the interesting parts for our Education Program. The idea of a template would be great, but need a little help @Ankry: here in Multilingual Wikisoure with the current ways you do it. -Theklan (talk) 09:53, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

- I think the template may be based on standard license template, like {{CC-by-sa-3.0}}. Just make a copy of it, add extra information with links; maybe translate it to Basque or make it bilingual. Ankry (talk) 14:06, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
