Add topicHello Mudbringer, welcome to the multilingual Wikisource! Thanks for your interest in the project; we hope you'll enjoy the community and your work here.
This wiki is the original Wikisource wiki, originally hosting works in many languages. The larger collections have been spawned into separate projects, leaving this wiki to serve as a central collaboration point, and as an environment where works without a language subdomain can be started. Refer to our languages list to see which languages still reside on this wiki. You can find a list of the separate language projects on the main page or here and you may want to look at the our coordination page for limitations on placing certain works on the separate language projects.
Most questions and discussions about the community are in the Scriptorium.
The Community Portal lists tasks you can help with if you wish. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page!

Front text: a recent try into it.source
[edit]Just to let you know, take a look to this bilingual text rendering into it.source: it:Proverbi, tradizioni e anneddoti delle valli ladine orientali/III/1. Are you perhaps interested about? There's no javasctript, only sections and templates, so that the result can be exported into ePub. Unluckily, interwiki lst: is impossible by now, so that en: pages should be copied here, to obtain a similar result. --Alex brollo (talk) 18:15, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Alex brollo: Thank you so much for the note. Your transcription project looks very interesting and significant, and the appearance is beautiful as well. I haven't had an occasion to explore the Italian wikisource yet, but I'd like to help a little bit if it looks like I can do so without messing things up too badly. I see there's a project with Basile's Lo cunto de li cunti that I'd also like to work on - he's my favorite pre-modern Italian author, although of course I've never properly studied the language he wrote in. A few years ago I was trying to see how many of the original versions of Calvino's Fiabe italiani I could find, and it seemed like almost everything was available online if you look hard enough for it. My dream would be to have a nicely transcribed collection of all the originals for Calvino's collection.
- And thank you for the advice. I don't really know yet what I'm going to do with Swahili Tales. I think first I'll just have it so you click through from the Swahili to the English translation, and then on to the Swahili of the next story, that is, jumping from here to English wikisource and back here again. I don't know if you've seen the attempt I made to put the first very short tale in parallel here. It's not too horrible, but probably that approach won't be practical for a fifty-page story.
- Sorry for going on so long. I'm going to be away from my computer for a week, but I'd really like to get in touch again. Mudbringer (talk) 12:48, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
- I can't see the result, but I read the code, more or less the idea is the same. Ok, let's keep our links crossed - interwiki real transclusion perhaps will be discussed at Wien meeting. --Alex brollo (talk) 13:13, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
- Just to play with code, I'm thinking about a js tool that replaces Iwpage template with a copy of original en.source text, saving too revision id do align text only when needed. Can I use some pages of your interesting bilingual work just to test the idea in practice? --Alex brollo (talk) 08:35, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Alex brollo: Please feel free. I'll be interested to see what you come up with. Mudbringer (talk) 21:23, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. Now I'll take a look to select one from the short stories into the book, then I'll try to write a js; I'll give you news and links to rollback anything if needed. --Alex brollo (talk) 21:42, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
- Ok, it can be done: Swahili Tales/MWEWE NA KUNGURU test; try to export into ePub, the result is farfrom perfect, but it is rather interesting. Feel free to rollback my edits. --Alex brollo (talk) 21:12, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
- The script I used to replace iwpage template with source text is here: User:Alex brollo/replacer.js. Feel free to submit it to skilled programmers if you are interested - it runs, but consider it simply a stub of a good script. --Alex brollo (talk) 08:09, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Alex brollo: Thanks for showing me what you've done. It looks really nice. I tweaked the widths a bit to make the text line up better. I don't think any of the changes will affect anything I'm doing. — Can you point me to any simple explanation on how to get javascript to run on the wikis? I wrote a little script to highlight corresponding words within an original text and translation (en:User:Mudbringer/HL.js, which is supposed to go with a sample like this: en:User:Mudbringer/Sandbox/HLsample), but don't know if anything like that is doable here. — Oh, and thanks for getting the custom rule template set up here! - Are you speaking about User:Alex brollo/replacer.js? If so, you can:
- simply copy it as it is into your User:Mudbringer/common.js page;
- add into your User:Mudbringer/common.js page this row of code, to run it here into mul.source:
importScript("User:Alex brollo/replacer.js");
- add into your User:Mudbringer/common.js into any project a mw.loader.load() call:
mw.loader.load('//wikisource.org/w/index.php?title=User:Alex brollo/replacer.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');
- I didn't test the script otherwhere, so I can't promise anything about bugs & mistakes....:-( Alex brollo (talk) 09:13, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
