جس کے پرتوَ سے منوّر رہی تیری شبِ دوش
پھر بھی ہو سکتا ہے روشن وہ چراغِ خاموش
مردِ بے حوصلہ کرتا ہے زمانے کا گِلہ
بندۂ حُر کے لیے نشترِ تقدیر ہے نوش
نہیں ہنگامۂ پیکار کے لائق وہ جواں
جو ہُوا نالۂ مُرغانِ سحر سے مَدہوش
مجھ کو ڈر ہے کہ ہے طفلانہ طبیعت تیری
اور عیّار ہیں یورپ کے شکر پارہ فروش!
