Welcome, Wikilivres users[edit]

https://wikilivres.ca is once again working and pointing to the new Wikilivres host. Please see the Archive for this page for discussion that took place from 03-Mar to 06-Apr-2017.

login not working reloaded[edit]

I cannot login on wikilivres again: yesterday and the day before yesterday I've got a message about wrong password, since yesterday evening there is no possibility to log in as the whole line (on the top right) "login / create new account" is missing. (My access to internet is a bit restricted at the moment - see my user page.) Regards -jkbx- (talk) 12:14, 15 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

reverted the deletion of my edit, -jkbx- (talk) 12:45, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not delete any edits either if from me or somebody else. Beside this fact: the problem is not solved yet. And i had today some more problems to find threads and discussions here and on Wikilivres - the threads have been deleted, renamed, moved from the bottom to the middle of the page)(or archived although quite new) etc. For me it is in the moment very difficult to see what happens - as everybody can see on my user page (-jkb-) I am on a short trip in NY presently and there is extremely bad connection to internet (WLAN not working etc. - from this reason I cannot send any screen shots or something like that, I do not have my normal PC here and I cannot email or get emails). When back and when logged in again I would like to take part in some very important discussions but when it is not there where I saw it the last time so I have the feeling I cannot take part in it. Thanks, -jkbx- (talk) 12:45, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As a courtesy I posted site status update here, as we do not have another public venue. However, this is not the place for technical requests for Wikilivres. Kindly remove your support request information from here so that others are not equally confused and type in similar issues/requests. Thank you. --Jeffmcneill (talk) 12:51, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Site Status Update 02:42, 17 April 2017 (UTC) -- RESOLVED[edit]

Wikilivres.ca is currently experiencing network problems. Our host is aware of this issue and is performing "a brief emergency maintenance in this location." Should be back up soon.1 --Jeffmcneill (talk) 02:47, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

1. For some value of soon.

We have network connectivity back, and are seeing normal traffic on the server at this point. --Jeffmcneill (talk) 03:36, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, not done yet. Patience. --Jeffmcneill (talk) 03:44, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
All done, back up and running by around 06:00 UTC. --Jeffmcneill (talk) 07:20, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

what happened?[edit]

hey; what happened or where did wikilivres move to? Lx 121 (talk) 10:38, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Zyephyrus: you can answer this better than others, I think you were the last of us who was active there; somewhen years ago I had to recognize that I have no access to it and didn't try any more. -jkb- (talk) 12:14, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My perspective: When Ray died, I got the original domain name from his family but the community moved to a site hosted in New Zealand (as I recall, not Canada, for sure) and was taken over by someone who briefly changed the name to BiblioWiki and then back and then became disengaged and let technical problems on the site mount up. —Justin (koavf)TCM 14:58, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Site wikilivres.org

  • Hello @ Zyephyrus:, for several days, the site wikilivres.org has stopped responding. However, I have put here many links to this site (in fact dozens), as Yann advised me. Many texts that I distributed online can now be found on this wikilivres.org site. How is it that we no longer have access to this site? Has his address changed again (for the third or fourth time)? Or is it expected to be restored soon? Have a nice day, Paul-Eric Langevin ( d) October 9, 2018 at 15:50 (UTC)
  • @ Zyephyrus: PS: After being hosted in Canada and Korea, it looks like it's now hosted in New Zealand. This is probably why it is no longer accessible from France. I wonder what administrators play. In the meantime, I am very annoyed, and this for the third time. Sincerely, Paul-Eric Langevin ( d) October 9, 2018 at 16:00 (UTC)
  • @ Paul-Eric Langevin: I haven't been able to access Wikilivres any more than you, and if it turned out to be impossible to fix it I would be very sad. I imagine someone is trying to save this site anyway, but I don't know who, and I don't know how to help them. - Zyephyrus ( d) September 9, 2019 at 14:49 (UTC)
  • @ Zyephyrus: thanks for this answer. I have posted about 130 texts on this site, including some from my grandfather and my father. I am therefore very worried about the development of the situation. I sincerely hope that all of this work doesn't go to the trash (and if it does, that I will have the opportunity to pick it up and transfer it somewhere else somehow). If I understand correctly, for the moment, this site is only accessible from New Zealand and maybe also from a few other countries. Give me information if you have any here. Sincerely, Paul-Eric Langevin ( d) October 9, 2018 at 17:25 (UTC)
  • @ Zyephyrus:, nothing new under the sun, the site is still inaccessible, and this since the beginning of the month. I would like to know where the texts that I put online have gone. And I hope I didn't do it all for nothing. It represents at least weeks of work, in fact maybe even a few months. I find a link on Google that says "this site is hosted in New Zealand and follows New Zealand copyright law". But the link is unreachable. Paul-Eric Langevin ( d) September 10, 2019 at 14:35 (UTC)
  • @ Paul-Eric Langevin: Your cries of a wounded animal will perhaps convince those who have stolen Wikilivres, if someone has stolen it, to return it to us; I ask you to calm down. You are not the only victim of this catastrophe, but you do not seem able to notice it. I lost a lot of my work, Yann still a lot more, and what happens to us is more, I hope, what happens to treasures: to be stolen, than what happens to more unlucky libraries: to be burned. In any case, I don't know anything more than what I told you, and I hope you will understand it. - Zyephyrus ( d) September 10, 2019 at 14:10 (UTC)
  • @ Zyephyrus: thank you for your message. I totally understand. However, it works for me quite a bit. I suspect that I am not the only one to suffer these difficulties. Give me some info afterwards if you have any, and excuse my spurious messages from a worried contributor. I asked the question of a Canadian contributor to see if he has any additional information. Have a nice day, Paul-Eric Langevin ( d) September 11, 2019 at 15:35 (UTC)
  • Hello @ Zyephyrus:, do you have anything new about the Wikilivres site? Does he have a new address? Or is it all gone for good? For information, the old domain name wikilivres.org is supposed to disappear on October 22. The site itself has been unusable since August 23. Sincerely, Paul-Eric Langevin ( d) September 24, 2019 at 17:25 (UTC)
  • @ Paul-Eric Langevin: no, I hardly have any news. Wuyouyuan told you on the scriptorium what he remembers. We don't know any more. Zyephyrus ( d) September 25, 2019 at 18:03 (UTC)
  • @ Zyephyrus:, thanks for information. Personally, if I find them and they really put everything in the trash, I sue them and I ask for damages. It is a massacre, this disappearance. Good evening. Paul-Eric Langevin ( d) September 26, 2019 at 01:30 (UTC)

Very unhappy to have nothing more to tell you. --Zyephyrus (talk) 16:01, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The user (see Koavf) who were editing here above was a bit dificult for me. After a very active beginning (I hat some problems to follow all his invitations to discussions on github etc., it was too much, decisions on new name for wikilivres...) he started do be inacitve and had no interst any more, indeed. In fact I don't know where I could find the site today. -jkb- (talk) 22:16, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

http://wikilivres.org/ seems to be abandoned. I don't know who has the codes. ;) I believe there is an old copy of the site on Internet Archive. Regards, Yann (talk) 13:29, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, but the site doesn't work well, you get the recent changes and something more, and that is all. @ Yann: it was funny for me to read after some years once again your story with your admin rights [1] :-( ... -jkb- (talk) 15:39, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
