Thanks for the question, and welcome back. There are some trends that are developing about article formats, but little has been done to write this up. That's partly because of my own failure to do that work, but also because I have waiting for some of these ideas to mature to the point where most members are actually using an idea. Having people freely use a suggested technique is the best possible endorsement that it could have. There is enough consensus on some issues to make writing some of them up a worthwhile job.
