Hi ILVI. Although I'm not a believer, I certainly support the right of believers to put various editions of the Bible into Wikisource in various languages. What most concerns me at this stage is the lack of standards for naming these pages. This will inevitably lead to conflicts when a book of the Bible has the same name in two different languages. The discussion is made more difficult when the contributors are only identified by IP numbers. I propose that a new page Wikisource:Bible be used to discuss the resolution of such conflicts. I still have not received any response to the above. I would very much prefer that this sort of thing to be discussed rather than going ahead and initiating the changes without having opinions. Once an agreement is reached it will obviously be better that the Interlingua pages continue to be maintained by an Interlingua speaker. Eclecticology 01:38, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Hi Eclec,

Thanks for your message. I can see your concern about this issue may lead to a discussion on how to resolve a problem before it turns into a sticky and messy situation, which no doubt it would turn into if ignored. Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I've been neglecting to check messages, but I'll try to put in my thoughts here for you...

I feel that we could rename the space in some sequential order, by language or by topic. I believe you are suggesting by topic... thus starting with :Bible... But it may perhaps be better to address the issue by organizing this by language: e.g. sources.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interlingua/Biblia/Evangelio_secundo_Mattheo

or something similar.

I believe that the use of mediawiki is very helpful in a translation project like this. The strength lies in making collaboration easy. If on the other hand, due to naming issues there's some type of conflict it makes it hard to keep focused on the goal of the colalboration effort. I'm suggesting separating the names by language so as not to depend on English as the guiding point, something like sources.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible/New_Testament/Matthew/Interlingua/ would not have the same neutral feel and would force non natives into depending on English for navigating the directories.
Also, where could we discuss this other than my talk page? Let me know, please, if you'd like to continue this thread.

The easy part: I think that Wikisource:Bible would be a good place to continue this discussion. Eclecticology 02:19, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)
