This copy, from the John Carter Brown library, contains a dedication by Smith to Henry C. Murphy, Esq., dated Nov. 28, 1859.

The contents are as follows:

1r-1v: A letter from Diego de Quiroga y Lossada to the King of Spain, April 1, 1688.

2r: A letter from Fr. Marçelo de San Joseph to Governor and Captain-General Diego de Quiroga y Lozada, February 9, 1688.

4r-5r: A facsimile of a letter in the Apalachee language from Don Matheo Chuba, chief of Juan Mendoza; Don Bentura, chief of Ybitachuco; Don Alonso Pastrana, chief of Pattali; Don Patricio, chief of Santa Cruz; and Don Ygnacio, chief of Talpatqui,to the King of Spain, Charles II, 1688 6r-7v: Spanish version of the Apalachee letter, translated by Fray Marçelo de San Joseph and signed by Alonsso Solana, February 17, 1688.

8r: A letter from Fr. Francisco de Roxas to Governor and Captain-General Diego de Quiroga y Losada, February 17, 1688.

10r: A facsimile of a letter in the Timucua language from Don Francisco chief of San Matheo, Francisco Martinez residente of San Matheo; Don Pedro, chief of San Pedro; Don Diego, chief of Machaua; Ventura, chief of Asile; and Gregorio, chief of San Juan, to the King of Spain, January 28, 1688.
