یہ سچ ہے ہر جگہ تم جلوہ گر ہو
وہ دیکھے جس کی آنکھیں ہوں نظر ہو
عداوت میں عداوت کی ہو تاثیر
محبت میں محبت کا اثر ہو
مزا جب ہے کہ ہمدم رنگ لائے
لہو دل کا ہو یا خون جگر ہو
وہ عرض وصل پر اس بت کا کہنا
خدا کا واسطہ کیوں میرے سر ہو
وہ چاہے ان بتان سنگ دل کو
الٰہی جس کا پتھر کا جگر ہو
نہیں دن سن تمہارے وہ کہ محمودؔ
تمہاری عمر غفلت میں بسر ہو
