کس طرح ریت کے سمندر میں
کشتیٔ زیست ہے رواں سوچو
سن کے باد صبا کی سرگوشی
کیوں لرزتی ہیں پتیاں سوچو
پتھروں کی پناہ میں کیوں ہے
آئنہ ساز کی دکاں سوچو
اصل سرچشمۂ وفا کیا ہے
وجہ بے مہریٔ بتاں سوچو
ذوق تعمیر کیوں نہیں مٹتا
کیوں اجڑتی ہیں بستیاں سوچو
فکر سقراط ہے کہ زہر کا گھونٹ
باعث عمر جاوداں سوچو
لوگ معنی تراش ہی لیں گے
کوئی بے ربط داستاں سوچو
