Hello Artman16, welcome to the multilingual Wikisource! Thanks for your interest in the project; we hope you'll enjoy the community and your work here.

This wiki is the original Wikisource wiki, originally hosting works in many languages. The larger collections have been spawned into separate projects, leaving this wiki to serve as a central collaboration point, and as an environment where works without a language subdomain can be started. Refer to our languages list to see which languages still reside on this wiki. You can find a list of the separate language projects on the main page or here and you may want to look at the our coordination page for limitations on placing certain works on the separate language projects.

Most questions and discussions about the community are in the Scriptorium.

The Community Portal lists tasks you can help with if you wish. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page!

licenses of texts[edit]

Please note, that only previously published Public Domain and CC-BY-SA 3.0 licensed texts may be published on Wikisource. Please add source information (where the texts were published) and license tenplates to the texts you added:

For example, texts enter Public Domain in the US if:

  • they were published first time before 1.1.1923,
  • they were published first time before 1.3.1989 and enter Public Domain in the origin country (Georgia?) before 1.1.1996,
  • they were published first time after 31.12.2002 and the author died more than 70 years ago

In most other cases (eg. texts of living or recently died authors) texts may only be published on Wikisource if they were released by its authors or their heirs under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license. Eg.:

  • if you can point a publication that is explicitly marked as published under CC-BY-SA 3.0 (or compatible) license terms,
  • if you have written permission from the author (or ther heirs) for CC-BY-SA 3.0 (or compatible) license publication (you need to forward such a permission to <permissions@wikimedia.org>),
  • if you are the author yourself, you also need to send us a written permission.

If you have any questions, do not heasitate to ask in Scriptorium.

Nota that, if you fail to comply the requirements, the text(s) will likely be deleted. We cannot store texts with unclear copyright status.
