This table is a summary of the different policies and technical solutions used in the Wikisource subdomains. Its goal is to facilitate comparisons and to increase users' awareness of the different options. Certain cells are colored to highlight important local policies, especially those in red for more restrictive ones.

[edit] Footnotes

  1. noc: InitialiseSettings.php variable "$wgImportSources"
  2. All works published before 1923 worldwide are in the public domain in the USA even if still copyrighted in their home countries. Exceptions may apply in the 9th Circuit for non-American works published since 1 July 1909 per http://www.copyright.cornell.edu/public_domain/#Footnote_12 by Peter Hirtle. This column indicates whether such works are allowed on a Wikisource subdomain according to the national laws when considering wmf:Resolution:Licensing_policy about any countries where any project content is predominantly accessed. If not, ws.org hosts these works and will transfer them to the subdomains when appropriate.
  3. Certain works, usually still copyrighted in 1996 at home, may still be copyrighted in the USA even if in the public domain at home now.
  4. This has not been discussed, so we use the unclear but very strong practice on the cs.wiki in the moment.
  5. Locally deleting Kansainvälinen (The Internationale in Finnish) dated in 1905 whose last surviving author died in 1964 suggests the de facto policy.
  6. Limited exceptions apply.
  7. Locally deleting インターナショナル (The Internationale in Japanese) dated in 1922 whose author died in 1978 suggests the de facto policy.
  8. The question hasn't been discussed yet. So far following Norwegian law.
  9. The policy under discussion for now.
  10. Pages beginning with "ผู้แต่ง"
  11. E.g.s:th:Boar's Head Carol
  12. Author pages are prefixed "作者:" meaning "Author:". Author namespace is available but not yet used as of 21 September 2009.
