Some notes on the diary pages:

  • Footnotes: I have used day-number as I believe it is easier when looking for entries for a specific day. I have also created two templates to allow you to jump to the footnote and back to the main text if required. I haven't super-scripted them as.
    1. they force uneven line spacing in the printable version
    2. the text is rather small when trying to read the names
  • Wikipedia links - I have boosted the usefulness by linking all prominent terms to Wikipedia.
  • Navigation as it is a diary - I believe that people will either seek a specific entry, read it part by part or go to an entry in question if looking for information about the Great Fire of London for example. A month seems an ideal length for a page.

Matters such as how to organise getting this mammoth work online can wait until another day! For the moment - I'm just interested in people's thoughts... GregRobson 23:47, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I'm not sure what sort of feedback you're looking for, but this looks fine to me. A few small points: superscripted footnotes like this 1 are less distracting. What is the source of the footnotes -- are they copyright-free. Also I think there's a typo: Page Title: The Diary of Samuel Pepys, January 1960 --- looks like that should probably be 1660. I'm new here so I thought I'd better make sure I was on the right track. The source is PG [1], and is over 100 years old. You're probably right on the footnotes, it's probably better to let the line spacing differ and stick to convention. Ah yes—1660—keep doing it as force of habit for some reaon!
I like that footnote template, clever. Wolfman 08:35, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Glad you like it - I'll give it some documentation and make sure people know it's there. Thanks for spotting those typos in the work as well :) GregRobson 12:23, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
