What is the point of this project?[edit]
There are many projects around the internet that provide public domain texts. What wikisource can add to these collections is (1) currently unavailable texts; (2) a mirror for other available texts; (3) aded value. There are many more people working on transcribing texts for Project Gutenberg through Distributed Proofreading than will ever be working here. Anyone who wants to add to the number of texts available on the internet should stop working independently and join them immediately.
The added value here is to wiki the currently available texts and provide space for gloss/commentary on those texts.
