Summary[edit]
This template applies a Unicode Khitan small script font to the text given as the first parameter, if such a font is available on the user's system.
If the Khitan text is inside a vertical layout block (see Vertical rtl and Vertical end templates then add 'vertical' as a second parameter after the Khitan small script text, and one of the following fonts designed for vertical orientation will be applied (in the order listed, i.e. with priority to Noto fonts if installed):
- Noto Fangsong KSS Rotated — Noto font designed for rotated vertical display, available from [1].
- Khitan Small Rotated — freeware font designed for rotated vertical display, available from [2].
If the 'vertical' parameter is absent then a font suitable for horizontal layout will be applied.
- Noto Serif Khitan Small Script — Noto font designed for vertical display of Khitan small script blocks in horizontal layout, with Khitan text centred vertically, available from [3].
- Khitan Small Vertical — freeware font designed for vertical display of Khitan small script blocks in horizontal layout, available from [4];
- Khitan Small Linear — freeware font designed for horizontal display of simple Khitan small script characters (i.e. no forming of blocks from individual characters), available from [5];
- BabelStone Khitan Small Linear — freeware font designed for horizontal display of simple Khitan small script characters (i.e. no forming of blocks from individual characters), available from [6];
- Noto Fangsong KSS Rotated — Noto font designed for rotated vertical display, available from [7].
- Khitan Small Rotated — freeware font designed for rotated vertical display, so will display as rotated Khitan small script text in horiontal layout, available from [8].
- Noto Fangsong KSS Vertical — Noto font designed for vertical display of Khitan small script blocks in horizontal layout in Word documents (does not display correctly on web pages), available from [9].
NB BabelStone Khitan fonts before 2023-07-14 have a mismapping between U+18BE1 𘯡 and U+18BE2 𘯢, which is fixed in v. 13.008 and later.
Parameters[edit]
- The first parameter should be the Khitan small script text for the font to be applied to.
- The second optional parameter 'vertical' should be appended when using in vertical layout.
