Usage[edit]

This template inserts an em dash with surrounding hair spaces. This is used for em dash sets — such as this one — in many texts.


In some circumstances, the coding will render as a regular space, generating a style that is not generally recommended (see w:Template:—, which uses non-breaking spaces). This downside should be considered when deciding if a work should employ this template or not.

This template also affects the display of the text,
—wrapping to the next line—by introducing a 'breaking space'.
