EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 10 Series of 2016
AN ORDER ENJOINING ALL LARGE-SIZED COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS AND FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS IN AGOO, LA UNION TO ESTABLISH A "BREASTFEEDING AREA" WITHIN THEIR RESPECTIVE ESTABLISHMENTS.
WHEREAS, the United Nation's Convention on the Rights of the Child recognizes a child's inherent right to life and the State's obligations to ensure the child's survival and development;
WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 10028 otherwise known as the "Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009" encourages the women and healthcare sector and other concerned sectors to support the practice of breastfeeding:
WHEREAS, the Municipality of Agoo, being a Child-Friendly Municipality and being a recipient of Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance is steadfast to its commitment on the promotion of child's nights and welfare;
WHEREAS, the general public, private and business sector shall take part to this commitment;
NOW THEREFORE, in view of the foregoing, I, STEFANIE ANN Y. ERIGUEL, M.D., Municipal Mayor of the Municipality of Agoo, La Union, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby enjoin all large-sized commercial establishments and financial institutions in Agoo, La Union to establish a "Breastfeeding Area" within their respective establishments.
Section 1. Implementing Guidelines and Procedures:
a. The Municipal Health Office and the Business Pennits and Licensing Section shall cause the dissemination of this Order to the large-sized commercial establishments and financial institutions in Agoo.
b. The two offices shall determine and set a deadline for the compliance of these large-sized establishments and financial institutions and inspection and monitoring shall also be undertaken after the deadline.
c. Anyone who violates this Order shall be subjected to cancellation/revocation of Permit to Engage in Business and Trade.
Section 2. This Order shall take effect immediately. SO ORDERED.
