It is hereby enacted as follows :PART I. itle, tn d 1CB'

1. (1) This Act may be callod thc Prisoners Act, 1900. (2) It extends to the whole of British India, inclusive of British Baluchistan, the Santhal Parganas and the Pargana of Spiti ; and (3) It shall come into force at once. 2. I n this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,(a) " Court " includes a Coroner and any oacer lawfully exercising civil, criminal or revenue jurisdiction ; and ( 6 ) rc prison " incl~ldesany place which has been declared by the Local Government, by general or special order, to be a subsidiary jail.
