With a view to fulfil this Treaty of general defence and pi otection, his Iligliness tlic Nabob Atopb JaU agrees, that two battalions of Sej^^s auU on« regitnunt of cavalry, with ft due proportiou of gaht and' vtilleiTiltoii, shall be added, in perpetuity, to Ae y e i e n t permaneot subiidiary force of six battalions of Sepoys, of onedioasand firelodu eacli, and one regiment of cavalry, five hundred strong (with tiieir proportion of guns and artillerymen), so that the whole subsidiary force furnished by the Honorable East- India Company to his Highness shall hence-forward oomiat of eight bfttalipps of Sepoys (or eight thotisand fiidocka) and two regimeoti «f caraliy (or one dioipMpMi|ioR»e) with their requisite complement of guoi, European artillerymen, Lasoart, and pioneers, fulljr equipped with warlike stores, and ammunition ^ whichfiNcoaiatoboitatiooeda inperpatuiQr* in his Higbae&s's territories.

ARTICLE IV.

The pay of tlie above«mcntioned additional force ihall be calculated at the rate of die pay of the existing subsidiary force, and shall commence from the day of the eotmnCft of the said additional force into his Highnesses territories.

ARTICLE VI.
