Alulusan muna ang unang narinig
Na yaong hininga ay iniihip;
Saka sa palihan na dating malamig
Ang bakal at apoy ay tumitilamsik.
Bakal ay nagwika: anggulan ng palad,
Panday, gawin akong tabak na makislap;
Kung ako’y tabak na’t dumating ang oras,
Itaas mo ako’t ihawi ng kidlat…
Sa bayo ng maso’t sa tulo ng pawis
Ang mapulang bakal ay napaninipis,
Bago maging tabak ng aping matuwid…
Hinagkan ng panday ang panyong watawat,
Tabak ay kinuha’t ang sabing malakas:
O, ang aking laya, o laya ng tabak…
