言者不知知者默， 此語吾聞于老君。 若道老君是知者， 緣何自著五千文。
白話文譯文[edit]
說話的人並不知道,有智慧的人卻不說話，這句話是我聽老君說的。 如果老君是有智慧的人，為何自己還寫下五千多字。
English translation[edit]
Those who speak do not know, and those who are wise do not speak. This is what I heard from Laojun(老子). If Laojun is a wise man, why did he write more than 5,000 words of scripture(Tao Te Ching 道德經)?
