Palmleaf Interface not working[edit]

Hi @Lautgesetz:, This file/index not working with your transliteration interface. Can we know why? Thanks. Joseagush (talk) 02:35, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Try now? --Lautgesetz (talk) 02:47, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I think I understand what actually happening now. Give me a minute to debug it. --Lautgesetz (talk) 02:51, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Joseagush: OK, I figured it out now. There are two related issues: (1) ProofreadPage's <pagelist /> tag does not support JPG format, so you need to enter the wikitext manually in the Pages field on the Index page. It looks like you've already figured this out and that's why you reverted my change to <pagelist /> (which is generally better/easier if it works). (2) My common.js script didn't know how to handle documents that aren't subdivided into pages. If you look at the URL for the PDFs you have a slash and a number, for example Page:Bali-lontar-carcan-kucing-250ppi.pdf/2. But for the JPG you just have: Page:Bali-lontar-Tojan-Candra_Graha.jpg with no slash. I've now updated it now to work when it sees a Page: namespace page like that. Please let me know if it's working and if there are any other issues. --Lautgesetz (talk) 03:26, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, we might want to fix ProofreadPage to handle JPG format, because otherwise you won't get the color indication of the proofread status of the single JPG page. How many manuscripts are really one page only, though? Would it be possible to just use PDF for everything or is that annoying for some reason? --Lautgesetz (talk) 03:28, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Lautgesetz:, Thanks, its work. All manuscripts we will enter for the project will just one page only as this example. It is just for front and back pages of the manuscript. Not all of pages. We need using jpg because we don't want to convert it to pdf. First, it wasted time as we want to input many palmleaf at once in same day and start to transcript it. Second, the pdf reduced the quality of the images and make it harder to read. Thanks. Joseagush (talk) 05:20, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Joseagush: OK, I've created a Phabricator ticket and submitted a patch to ProofreadPage that will let you use <pagelist /> for jpg files. Until the patch is accepted you'll have to manually link to the page. We'll see what the reaction is and if people agree that this is a useful change. --Lautgesetz (talk) 00:48, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Lautgesetz:, Thanks a lot. That means a lot for our small community. Joseagush (talk) 11:35, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Joseagush: well, that was fast. The ProofreadPage change has been accepted and merged. It should be possible to use <pagelist /> for JPG documents on Wikisource starting on January 6. --Lautgesetz (talk) 02:30, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The image quality is not same as in Commons[edit]

Hi @Lautgesetz:, We have another issue regarding the quality of the images rather using png, jpg or pdf when using Palmleaf Interface is not good enough to read. We try to check the image on Commons, the file seems good enough but when using the keyboard interface the quality seems get lower quality than the original copy. I need your help to fix this issue. Thanks in advance. Let me know if you need help. Joseagush (talk) 08:18, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Joseagush: This issue comes from the ProofreadPage extension. If the image width is larger than 1024 pixels and the "Width of scans" entry is empty on the Index page, ProofreadPage automatically reduces the image width to 1024 pixels. The way to fix it is to enter the full image width on the Index page under "Width of scans". In this case that's 5184 pixels. You can see the size on the commons page. I've edited the Index page for this document and looks like it has fixed the issue. Can you check? (It would be good to have a better fix for this than manually entering the resolution each time. There's a Phabricator task discussing the issue but no one has decided how to fix it yet.) --Lautgesetz (talk) 21:16, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Lautgesetz:, Wow, thanks a lot, it works! I owe you beer when you come to Bali. Cheers. Joseagush (talk) 04:06, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
